to touch the clouds once
and plunge into numbing obsecurity

No more master of illusions
cannibalizing my soul from within,
trapped by words and thoughts
of yesteryear's glorious legacy

this ain't your fly-by-night,
this ain't your one-hit wonder,
this ain't your sweet conwoman,
here to leave you high and dry

words have lost their gloss,
the camouflage has worn off.
gritty and to the bone,
they have now become.
